Moacir Bedê
MP3 and scores

A self-taught musician, instrumentalist and composer, Moacir Bedê was born in the city of Fortaleza, State of Ceará, on January 4, 1969. He plays the mandolin, guitar, guitar from Bahia, cavaquinho, transverse flute, and piccolo. His father and his older brother, who also plays the accordion, were the owners of a “samba school,” where his first contacts with music began, in his childhood, mainly involving samba and the rhythms from Northeastern Brazil.

Always using improvisations and harmonies worked out in detail, he plays several styles, among which samba, choro, frevo, baião, maxixe, and bossa-nova. He has performed in many Brazilian cities and also in countries such as Portugal, Spain, Germany, England, United States and Argentina.

He mainly focuses on modern choro, showing influences from the Brazilian Northeastern rhythms. This is how he points out the richness of Brazilian music, and takes advantage of that mosaic to create a pleasant effect to the ears, with a lot of improvisation.

In 2009 he released his CD Outros Sambas, where he shows all his personality and musical experience. Currently, Moacir lives in São Paulo.
